Here are the details: $50 per person Shea's Restaurant 330 East Ave., Rochester Complimentary parking is available on Lawrence Street in the last lot on the left. We hope to see you this evening!! Remember this, Rochester? 08/14/2011
Remember this? "Look at Midtown Plaza. There's a thousand new jobs there!" There weren't a thousand jobs there then, and there likely won't be a thousand jobs there any time soon. They were referencing PAETEC building their headquarters at the former Midtown site. With PAETEC's potential sale to Windstream Inc., there likely won't be a headquarters at that site. Remember this costly mistake, and the host of others (the Fast Ferry, the Mortimer Street bus terminal, etc.), on Election Day and vote for your Republican City Council candidate. We can, and we will, turn this wonderful city around! A message from Andy Rau 08/13/2011
I've been walking the neighborhoods of the Northwest District to meet the voters. The neighborhoods ARE very different yet, remarkably, everyone's concerns are the same: jobs, safety and schools. This is what I see has been the problem with city government: it stresses people's differences, rather than their similarities, and that is why our city has been in trouble for such a long time. It's like dabbing at the individual spots to cure the measles, and that doesn't work. I know that there are things that city council cannot do, yet there are plenty of things that it can do, but have chosen NOT to be bothered to do them. It's not because they are evil; it's simply because bad habits are hard to break, even if they wanted to. It's also easier to fall back into old patterns, even if they have failed or are outdated, because people have become accustomed to failure, have lost faith in city government and really expect nothing more from it. It's time we stopped settling for less, and not accepting that as the norm. In the Northwest District, we NEED a full-time city councilman, NOT a part-timer whose primary focus and energy is their day job, and we get what's left over! We do not need people who pad their resumes with memberships in organizations they have no time to attend, but look so good on paper. We NEED someone who will be a full-time advocate for the Northwest District, not someone who will spare the time when they feel like it. We NEED someone who will be out in the field with the people they claim to represent, NOT just at election time. And I want to be that person! Thank you, and an invitation! 08/07/2011
